SIF has workshop session 5, Aspects of Interop & Resource Discovery
  • This session will look into areas of promise with respect to multidisciplinary interoperability and discovery of Earth observation resources. Linked data, unique identifiers, and resource casting will be discussed generally and with regards to Model Web and Sensor Web efforts. There will also be discussions of semantics as it applies to interoperability, brokering concepts, and examples of operational networks, such as Polar Data Network.

Agenda for session 5, Wed 27 March, 13:00-17:00 EDT

  • Unique Identifiers within Systems of Systems (Joan Maso)
    • URLs vs unique IDs;IDs for data vs metadata; relation to linked data; handling duplication and persistence
  • Brokering for Multi-disciplinary Interoperability: an EarthCube Perspective (Siri Jodha Singh Khalsa)
    • Distinguishing and managing brokers in system of systems; enabling semantic interoperability; what's lost in brokering
  • Authentication, Single Sign-On, and user management for GEOSS (Steve Browdy)
